Welcome to West Coast Swing

Class Descriptions:

BEGINNING Class covers ten basic steps:
4 selected whips, 3 passes,  1 push, 1 tuck-send out, 1 starter step
Each Sunday, two basics (from these ten) are taught and practiced to music.
You do not need to know what was taught the week before.
This makes class especially comfortable if you need to miss an occasional Sunday.
It is suggested a Beginning student repeat the five-week series approx. three times.
These ten basic steps are a prerequisite to Debbie's Intermediate class.

INTERMEDIATE Class covers a diverse arrangement of patterns.
Each Sunday, low intermediate patterns are introduced.  As the entire class masters the pattern, a higher level of skill is offered.
Over five weeks of practice, patterns develop into stronger Intermediate patterns with optional exits.
Each of the new Intermediate level patterns reinforce the Beginner's Basic Ten steps.

ADVANCED STYLING Class covers diverse footwork, body movements, and music interpretation.
Each Sunday class progresses differently - we address splits, slides, body rolls, centrifugal whips, turns, rotations, single leg spins, shoulder rhythms, jazz hips, pops, connected energy, and whatever else is current on the WCS competition floor.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Debbie D'Aquino has been teaching West Coast Swing since 1998.
Certified as a Yoga Instructor in her early twenties, Debbie uses a similar teaching technique with her dance students.  She starts from an elementary level and builds each pattern according to the skills of the student/class.   Being well trained (28 years) in ballet and tap, Debbie applies classic dance technique in her classes as well.   Her methods emphasize good form with turns and spins,  foot placement,  and body weight distribution.   She welcomes inquiries during class and often asks, "Who has a question?"

Debbie is available for Private Instruction at various studio locations:  El Segundo and Lomita.
Days and Times vary each week.   Please call to schedule an appointment.  310-833-7511
